I'm hearing nothing but amazing things about this year's meeting!

Trust and believe that both the NMA and the derm section are pulling out all of the bells and whistles for this year's meeting. I'm looking forward to the announcement about who the keynote speakers will be. In the past, keynote speakers have been Dr. Anthony Fauci, Stacey Abrams, Senator Bernie Sanders, Representative Ayanna Pressley, and our very own NMA member Dr. David Satcher (first black US Surgeon General). NMA Derm speakers include former NMA Derm Chairs Dr. Valerie Callender and Dr. Ginette Okoye.
As a mother, I am very excited that my children will be able to attend Camp NMA'zing this year! It is by far the best camp in which I've ever enrolled my children. The program activities are carefully selected with the goal of providing a wide range of age-appropriate, educational, social, and cultural experiences unique to Atlanta, GA. Campers are children of NMA members who grow up with amazing experiences all over the country. Many connections remain lifelong. Use this link or see below for planned activities.
The scientific meeting is second-to-none. For example, I firmly believe that all NMA Derm members should be able to perform at least small cases of hair transplantation-- at least for our patients with traction alopecia. This is why I invited Dr. Achiamah Osei-Tutu to teach us how to incorporate Hair Transplantation into our practices. Just the same, this convention is where we stay cutting edge. To that end, Dr. Ginette Okoye will give us an overview of JAK inhibitors. This is a follow-up from when Dr. Brett King first introduced the class to us years ago. See more examples of presentations below.
The social calendar is loaded with great events. While the kids are at Camp NMA-zing, join us Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday evenings. You don't want to miss Black Men in Derm on Friday, the annual award ceremony on Saturday, our takeover of the soul food restaurant Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint on Sunday, or the black-tie affair-- the President's Gala on Tuesday.
Thank you to our sponsors: Abbvie, Aerolase, Benev, CeraVe, Galderma, Lumisque Skincare, P&G, Regeneron/Sanofi, and Vitality Institute.
This is my last year (month) as chair. I served two terms with the initial intention of making NMA Derm well-known again and stronger. You helped me to do much more than that. You are in amazing hands with Dr. Cheri Frey as your upcoming chair. NMA Derm is thriving and soaring. I could not have done it without Dr. Cheri Frey, Dr. Hope Mitchell, or Ms. Lisa Jordan.
This was not a one-woman show. This was a dream team.
Thank you all! Muah!

Do you remember the first-ever Black Men in Derm event this past spring sponsored by Cerave? We are bringing Black Men in Derm to Atlanta! This time, it is still sponsored by Cerave but is led by Dr. DiAnne Davis and Dr. Cheri Frey.
YOU are invited, so be sure to fly into Atlanta by mid-afternoon.
If you know any black male medical students who will be in Atlanta, invite them to join you. This is one of the ways we play the long game to increase the number of black male dermatologists.
