Update on HB111

The Co-Sponsors of HB111, Representative Andrea Romero & Representative Angelica Rubio, have worked to submit a "Committee Sub", which is a substitution bill that takes into consideration the questions and concerns of the committee and update the entire bill in one movement (rather than multiple amendments).

The committee sub has been submitted to Chair Chasey, and HB111 is scheduled to be heard with these updates presented on Monday, February 22nd.

We do not anticipate that public comment will not be heard at this committee. If you are a constituent of any of the House Judiciary Committee Members, be encouraged to call and email stating your support of HB111. Other Ways to Support HB111
SB27 - Statutory Changes to NM Housing Trust Fund
This bill was passed on 2/11/21 was passed at a 39-2 vote by the Senate and will be scheduled (TBD) to be heard at the House Health & Human Services Committee.

This proposed bill would amend the New Mexico Housing Trust Fund Act (58-18C-1) to allow MFA to utilize New Mexico Housing Trust Funds for more types of housing activities, including, but not limited to, rental and mortgage assistance, down payment assistance, weatherization activities and housing program services.
SB28 - $12M to NM Housing Trust Fund
This bill will be heard by the Senate Finance Committee, schedule TBD.

This appropriation could help build, rehabilitate or preserve approximately 1,000 quality affordable homes for low-income New Mexicans and could weatherize and provide energy efficiency upgrades for an additional 300 low-income households statewide.
