I dare you to convince me that in the last year, at least once, a stellar performance evaluation on a marginal employee didn’t mysteriously end up on your desk. An employee that you have been working on casually offboarding for nine months and have two documented strikes in the file. Just waiting for that one last irrefutable-undeniable-stupid-incident so you can pull the plug. The evaluator who documented the performance eval, no doubt, is the exact same who stops in your office weekly to point out that the company should fire this employee immediately and failure to do so is the single-biggest travesty they have seen since Richard Nixon participated in Watergate. Performance score on the marginal employee 100%, a guarantee that they cannot be offboarded for at least another three years.
No worries! It’s nothing that a shot of Absolute with a gin and tonic chaser won’t make all better!
