Registration and hotel special group rates are now open!! National Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Association Wellness Institute November 3 to 5, 2021 Register Now! Hotel: Le Méridien, New Orleans, Louisiana The Wellness Institute in New Orleans, Louisiana hosted by NMSHSA & Partners : In response to the global pandemic, there’s going to be a huge amount of need to reimagine and recharge the MSHS wellness initiatives and health strategies. NMSHSA and Partners have come together to prepare just that for you! The Wellness Institute in New Orleans will have multitude of wellness sessions from MSHS grantees, collaborator partners and covid-19 leading experts from the lessons learned.   We care deeply about the health and well-being of wellness institute attendees, speakers, guests, volunteers, staff, and all who will join us for the upcoming 2021 NMSHSA Wellness Institute being held in New Orleans, LA, from November 2nd to 7th, 2021. The National Migrant & Seasonal Head Start Association has been clear that the safety of those attending is of paramount importance. As such:   Proof of full COVID Vaccination is strongly recommended for all in-person attendees at the Wellness Institute. If vaccination is not possible for an attendee, his or her organization must ensure that is properly tested for COVID-19 before the trip. Masks will be required in all institute venues. Masks (multiple) will be provided on-site to all attendees. Exceptions will be made for wellness institute speakers while they are presenting during workshops or plenary sessions. Please note that items like gaiters, scarves, face shields, and kerchiefs will not be considered masks. Click here for CDC Guidance on masks. ·       For travel, click here for CDC guidance on traveling during COVID-19. There is still time to receive the COVID vaccination before arriving on site. We strongly urge the entire MSHS community to get vaccinated. If you have concerns about the vaccine, please talk to your doctor.   Additionally, the NMSHSA team reserves the right adjust the protocol as the pandemic evolves. News from the Office of Head Start

Supporting the Wellness of All Staff in the Head Start Workforce ACF-IM-HS-21-05 Last year has brought significant challenges to the Head Start workforce. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disparate impact on under-resourced communities, including many of those served by Head Start programs. There has also been heightened attention to racial injustice in our country, which has led to calls for major reforms to address long-standing societal inequities. These are particularly important concerns for OHS and the Head Start workforce. All staff have been impacted by COVID-19. Further, 60% of Head Start teaching staff are Black, Indigenous, and people of color, and 30% have a primary language other than English. As such, OHS is committed to a culture of wellness that includes holistic support for the entire Head Start workforce.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 Supporting MSHS Grantees The spread of the Coronavirus (COVID–19) and the intensity of media coverage surrounding it may be overwhelming, perhaps even frightening.  Prevention is a priority at this time, especially during cold and flu season. Migrant and Seasonal Head Start is a trusted voice in rural communities and it is important that families can turn to you for reassurance and guidance. The NMSHSA offers support in this critical times through information and advocacy. Follow us on our website.
