Important Updates about the Conference
OHS Migrant & Seasonal Head Start Conference
Region XII Summit

In light of the COVID-19 variants and recent spike in cases nationwide, the Office of Head Start (OHS) believes that the best way to serve you and keep our communities and programs safe is to postpone the upcoming Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Conference to Fall 2022 (details forthcoming). 

We still want to gather our community together this Spring, and are excited to announce that OHS will be hosting a one-day virtual meeting, Region XII Summit, on
Wednesday, March 30, 2022, from 11:00 am – 5:30 pm EST.

Please be sure to join us at the Region XII Summit for updates from Regional and National OHS leadership and professional skill-building sessions. We also have a few surprises in store for you to make this meeting extra special!

Instructions for accessing and participating in the meeting via Zoom Meeting will be emailed to all registrants closer to the Summit. The agenda and meeting materials will be available soon on the meeting website.
National Migrant & Seasonal Head Start Association Summer Internship Program


The National Migrant & Seasonal Head Start Association (NMSHSA) offers an unique internship program to current college students who participated in a Migrant & Seasonal Head Start Program. The NMSHSA Internship Program brings together the next generation of community leaders from across the country to work in Washington, D.C. Our NMSHSA interns come from migrant and seasonal farm-worker families; have participated in one of our member Migrant or Seasonal Head Start programs between the ages of 0 to 5; are rising juniors or seniors in a college undergraduate program; and are active students in their community with proven potential. The seven-week internship program includes a stipend, housing, and work placement in the Washington, D.C. area.

Plate of Bounty Award and Scholarships Applications 2021-2022
Deadline for Nomination and Application Extended until Friday, February 18, 2022


The National Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Association (NMSHSA) is inviting you to nominate individuals for the Plate of Bounty Award, and/or submit applications for the Bill Castellanos Parent Scholarship Award or the Clint Mitcham Scholarship Award for MSHS staff. All forms are available in English and Spanish. Please share Spanish links with parents.

Note: If you submitted an application or nomination during 2021, it will be considered together with anyone submitted from now on. It is not necessary to submit it again. Awardees will be selected from all applications submitted in 2021 until the deadline in 2022.

Bill Castellanos Parent Scholarship Award

The National Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Association is pleased to announce the availability of one $1,000 scholarships to individuals who are currently pursuing their education in an institute of higher learning and have had a child enrolled in a minimum of one season or currently have a child enrolled in a Migrant and Seasonal Head Start program.

Clint Mitcham Scholarship Award

The National Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Association is pleased to announce the availability of two $1,000 scholarships to individuals who have a minimum of three completed seasons of experience working with a Migrant and Seasonal Head Start (MSHS) program.
