June Is Trench Safety

How Contractors Can Ensure The annual Trench Safety Stand Down, June 14-18, is a great time to learn more about trenching hazards and how to keep workers safe.

When it comes to trenching, the greatest threat to workers’ safety are collapses or cave-ins. To prevent them, remember to:

  • SLOPE or bench trench walls
  • SHORE trench walls with supports
  • SHIELD trench walls with trench boxes

When Do I need a Wide Area Locate Conference?

Projects lasting longer than six (6) months in duration will require a new wide area conference and new wide area locate. This process is to ensure any new facilities added to the project area will be included in the new project plan, or if any changes in ownership of facilities has occurred during the previous six months.)
