New Feature:

Data Requests by Users Like You

Is there a dataset you would like to use but do not see on the NMWDI data catalog? You can now request datasets on the NMWDI website! Registered users can request specific datasets, and are able to add comments on any existing dataset.

The Data Request feature allows users like you to send a request for a dataset directly to a participating agency through the NMWDI. You do not have to look up any email addresses, the NMWDI will handle connecting you to the agency. Other curious users can also comment on your request, adding to the richness of the data ecosystem.

To register for an account with our data catalog, simply navigate to catalog.newmexicowaterdata.org, and click the blue 'Register' button in the top right corner of the page. Once you are a registered user, you can make new data requests and comment on existing requests.

New Mexico Technology Adoption Program

Data infrastructure modernization at public agencies is a complex process. It depends not only on the adoption of modern technologies, but also on an organizational and cultural evolution in how data are managed, shared, and deployed for decision-making.

Representatives of the directing agencies of the NM Water Data Initiative participated in The Internet of Water (IoW) Technology Adoption Program (TAP) last year (2022). This program is designed to address both aspects of water data modernization. Informed by a Duke University research project, TAP includes an introduction to and training on available technologies and close engagement with public agency staff and leadership to facilitate the organizational transformation needed for the adoption of modern technologies and approaches. This blog post describes the process of the technology adoption project in New Mexico.

Groundwater Mapping for the

Albuquerque Area

Dr. Geoff Rawling, a hydrogeologist with the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, has produced an updated water-table map for the Albuquerque area for the winter of 2019–2020. Water-level changes and changes in the amount of groundwater in storage in the aquifer since the predevelopment time period are presented in several images in the report. This project was funded by the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Authority
