NMYAFL AND SANTA FE STING YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE PARTNERSHIP!

NMYAFL and The Santa Fe Sting Youth Football League will combine this fall to create a North / South Youth football Partnership! This fall season teams from Santa Fe will be competing with more than 35 teams in Albuquerque from the Pee Wee, Freshman and Junior Divisions. These games will be non-conference games and will be held in both Albuquerque and Santa Fe.  This partnership will also include cheer squads from Santa Fe that will compete in our annual NMYAFL Cheerfest competition in September. This is a great partnership to help expand and grow youth football in New Mexico. We welcome the Santa Fe Sting Youth Football League to the NMYAFL Family!

 

NEW PLAYERS
REGISTER FOR 2013 SEASON AND PLAY IN
ANY DISTRICT!
NMYAFL has changed its registration policy for New Players. Now New Players can play in ANY district!!! 

New Players
(defined as players who have not played in NMYAFL in the previous fall season) are allowed to register with NMYAFL and ask to be put on a roster in any district in their age division. We encourage all coaches to recruit players for the league by sharing this new change. 

Registration Numbers 
Per our league policies and procedures, a players registration number will dictate if the new player stays on their desired team or if they will be moved to the next closest district or moved back to their home district. This is due to team size restrictions. If you register for the league and you want to be on a certain team, there MUST be space available on that team. 

"New Players can play on any team in their age division in any location that has SPACE AVAILABLE."

New Players who have signed up for the 2013 season in February, March, April and May can move to any district this year.

Mighty Mites are grandfathered and can stay together. If a player desires to return to his home district they just need to inform the league. This includes current 2013 Pee Wees (2012 Mighty Mites).

Existing Players who wish to change teams must still complete a hardship form. Once the hardship form is completed the hardship committee will review each request.

In an effort to make football and cheer registration easier for all of our parents we are now accepting paper registration forms!! You can now register online or you can print out the registration forms below. Bring the completed forms to the NMYAFL office to register your child for either football and cheer.

FALL EQUIPMENT ISSUE SCHEDULE
Fall Tackle Football Equipment issue will start May 21st for the 2013 Fall Season at the NMYAFL office 5300 Ponderosa Ave. NE. Before receiving football equipment, each player MUST have their Parent or Guardian initial and sign the Equipment Issue Acknowledgement Form. Coaches please insure that all of you players have a completed Equipment Issue Acknowledgement Form at your scheduled equipment issue time slot.

If you have players on your team that own their own helmets, please have them bring their helmets to equipment issue along with the Helmet Registration Form so that we can to have the helmet registered. This process will help us to insure that all helmets being used complies with the NOCSAE safety standards. Click the read more for complete schedules. 

2013 FALL FOOTBALL AND CHEER REGISTRATION 

Registration for the 2013 spring and fall seasons is under way. We will continue to register for the spring season until March 16th and we will continue to register for the fall season until July 20th. To register your child you must be able to login in to the NMYAFL.org website so if you do not have a user name and password you can create one by clicking 

 

"Create a User Account" on the right hand side of the NMYAFL Site.

 

For the 2013 season NMYAFL will be offering the following seasons:

 

Fall Tackle Football Ages 7 to 14  Begins July 22nd 2013

Fall Cheer and Mascot Begins July 22nd 2013

The Registration Fees for Fall Tackle Football and Cheer includes everything your child will need to participate with the exception of cleats and athletic supporter for Football players.

Fall Tackle Football and Cheer practice will begin July 22nd with the 1st Fall Game weekend beginning August 10th.

NMYAFL PILOT LEAGUE FOR NFL / USA FOOTBALL
HEADS UP PROGRAM 
We are pleased to announce the the New Mexico Young America Football League has been chosen by the NFL / USA Football as a pilot league to roll out the Heads Up Tackling Program. This program was designed to teach coaches parents and players the correct way to teach children of all ages the proper way to tackle. The NFL and USA Football are keenly aware of the effects that concussions have had on our youth and they are being proactive in their approach in addressing this issue and this program was designed to help coaches and players reduce the possibility of concussions.

This program is not only for Coaches and players but for parents as well. Each parent will be given a code to join USA Football and they will be able to view video and written tools to become better educated on proper tackling. 

We are starting to select and train the future Player Safety Coaches for the 2013 season. They will be instrumental in implementing the Head Up Program throughout the League.
