 2016 Year in Review

NNI's Jazz on the Rocks Served up Hundreds
 

Back in September, we hosted our 2nd Annual Jazz on the Rocks at Stamford's scenic Harbor Point.

More than 200 guests enjoyed live musical performances on the waterfront from and an array of vendors offering whiskey, craft beer, and food samplings.  Jazz on the Rocks raised just over  $28,000  for NNI!

Stamford 2030's Platinum Award

NNI's The Atlantic property was chosen as a 2016 Change Makers Award Winner!  Stamford 2030 recognized The Atlantic as a building that promotes sustainability in Fairfield County.  Stamford 2030 honored NNI's The Atlantic as a Platinum Award (the highest tier) winner at the 2nd Annual Change Makers Awards that took place on October 5th.

Renovation of the Atlantic

NNI was awarded a grant to go towards a $2.3MM renovation of the Atlantic.The renovations included significant increases in building insulation and weatherization (reducing air flow between outdoors and building), as well as in the heating, air conditioning and lighting equipment installed.  

Bank of America Award

Bank of America supported NNI with a $10,000.00 grant for Community Development!

Laurel House Award

In 2016, Ross Burkhardt won the Laurel House Westport-Weston Neighborhood Champion Award.

Grants won in 2016

In 2016, NNI received  $125,000 in grants for prospective housing development projects,  $2,500 for the HOME art installation project in Stamford,  $20,000 in grants for the Tenant Advocate Program, with an additional $78,846 in grants submitted to funders pending a decision.  
Free Health Fair

New Neighborhoods, Inc. (NNI) hosted a free multi-agency health fair at its Martin Luther King Jr. Apartments property in Stamford on August 25th. Guests were able to learn about pediatric, adult and senior nutrition, wellness, and exercise programs to promote healthier living and longevity.



Senior Citizens Back at Prom

New Neighborhoods, Inc. and The Over 60 Club presented and hosted a Senior Prom Luncheon. Over 100 seniors felt revitalized as they danced to music, ate, and enjoyed the prom once again.
 

Summer Meals Success

The Summer Meals Program provided breakfast and lunch free of charge to individuals aged 18 and under throughout July. New Neighborhoods, Inc. supported the program on the West Side of Stamford.
 

Annual Winter Warm-up

New Neighborhoods, Inc. hosted its annual winter coat drive in mid-December at this year's Winter Warm-up.  Residents warmed up with chili and hot chocolate at the event. 
 


The Food Bank 

At Marshall Commons, the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County Food Truck holds a monthly community distribution of bags of groceries for food insecure residents and their South End neighbors.
