Update: NNJC Scouting Dealing With the COVID – 19 Virus

To Our Scouting Family:

We hope that our Scouting family and friends are staying safe and healthy as we all navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic. The past five weeks have presented challenges to many aspects of our lives. Yet, as Scouts we stay strong and continue to do our part to support others during this time.

Many of our packs, troops, and crews have not only continued holding virtual meetings but have provided thousands of hours of service to support their neighbors, community and first responders. Follow the Northern New Jersey Council on social media at #NNJCGoodTurn to share what you are doing to keep New Jersey strong and to see what your fellow Scouts have been doing to support others.

Our amazing Commissioner team kicked off a series of virtual Scout leader Roundtables last week with over 100 participants locally and viewed by hundreds more on our NNJC YouTube channel, all seeking creative ways to hold virtual Scout meetings. We thank these incredibly dedicated leaders who keep the Scouting program going now and always. Visit the National BSA Scouting from Home page and our Council Webpage or follow us on Facebook for more upcoming virtual activities and trainings.

While we hope you will join us on Saturday, May 2 nd for the Wireless Wilderness Adventure , a virtually guided at-home-camping experience, the Council Camping Committee is busy making plans for a fun and safe summer camp season. Increased safety precautions will be in place along with new and exciting program areas offered at each of our camps. If you are not receiving the NNJC Outdoor Adventure Update highlighting the latest news on camp, email communications@nnjbsa.org to subscribe. Don’t forget to reserve your spot at Nobebosco, Turrell, Floodwood, Lewis or Yaw Paw by Friday, May 1 st to be eligible for an early bird discount.

Though the NNJC Scout Service Center is closed, we continue to process charters, Eagle Scout applications, registrations, donations and payables. Please reach out to your Scout professional for any support needed or feel free to drop off any paperwork you have to submit in the mail or into the drop box outside the front door to the administrative building.

We continue to closely monitor the developments and recommendations put forth both locally and through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) while keeping in mind the safety and well-being of our employees, Scouts, leaders and their families.

As we follow the direction set by government and healthcare officials addressing the spread of COVID-19 in our communities, we remain committed to ensuring that we continue to support you and our Scouts.  To that effect, our Scout Service Center, Scout Shop and camps will remain closed until further notice from the state of New Jersey.

On behalf of the entire NNJC team, we look forward to seeing you soon!

Stay home. Stay safe. Save lives.

 Yours in Scouting,
