NOCCA Alumni in the News!
Sandra Booker (Music alum) has released a new single “Until We Meet Again” from her forthcoming album Songs from the 8th Ward. Sandra is using this album to return to the gospel, funk/soul, and R&B grooves of her childhood in the 8th Ward. The single specifically is a love letter to the memories of those we have lost. Sandra works as a singer, songwriter, and actress with a variety of projects going at all times! Check out her website and YouTube channel for the latest!

Jon Batiste ( Jazz '04) covers a wide range of topics in this recent interview with Time Magazine, from life insights from Stevie Wonder to the need to raise our national consciousness in response to systematic racism.
In March of 2020, Hannah Weber (Dance '06) decided to make the big move back to Louisiana after dancing with Cirque du Soleil in Los Angeles for two years and freelancing for eight years in New York City. And she has been busy! Hannah is designing and implementing the first-ever dance program for St. Charles Parish Public Schools and teaching dance for River Region Ballet. Additionally, Hannah is launching the inaugural St. Charles Parish Summer Dance Intensive at the Lafon Performing Arts Center this coming July. The week-long summer dance intensive teaching staff will also include two other NOCCA Dance alumni!
Be sure to check out Lonely Winners Club, a new album from Rodja "Flighteous" Fields (Media Arts '09). This video provides a great preview, but the whole album is widely available, including on Spotify!
Congrats to Lauren Malara (Drama '04)'s for Life Raft, the podcast she co-hosts, being listed in The New York Times as one of five good podcasts for understanding climate change! The Times shares, "This bimonthly podcast from PRX and the Louisiana public-radio stations WWNO and WRKF does the improbable: It makes surviving the climate crisis fun. The hosts [Lauren and cohost Travis Lux]...combine great reporting and storytelling to answer listener questions regarding life on a changing planet."
