Due to COVID-19, the North Carolina Legislature enacted Senate Bill 704 (
full version) (“Legislation”), which temporarily modifies the ability to perform notarial acts in the state. This Legislation allows for a
principal physically located within the State of North Carolina to use video conference technology to satisfy the requirement of personal appearance
before a North Carolina notary until 12:01 a.m. on August 1, 2020.
Investors Title will insure transactions where the acknowledgment of the principal’s signature complies with the requirements of the Legislation. In an effort to support approved attorneys and other partners, we have prepared the following guidance as to the use of video notarization in accordance with this Legislation.
