Maritime Activity Notice - Fender Pile Driving to take place in the channel November 2-4

As construction of the updated fender system advances, maritime traffic should anticipate an opening of the bascule High Rise Bridge and construction crews driving fender piles within the channel during the following times and dates:

  • Saturday, November 2 at 11 p.m. to Sunday, November 3 at 6 a.m.
  • Sunday, November 3 at 11 p.m. to Sunday, November 4 at 4 a.m.

Continuous work in the Elizabeth River will include changes in channel layout, and removal and replacement of the existing fender system. Additional substructure changes include barge and crane mobilization, pile driving, pile cap construction, column construction, and cap construction. Superstructure work includes beam erection.

From .06 mile east of the I-264 interchange at the Bowels Hill to 0.9 mile east of the I-464 interchange
