Cat Chat Newsletter - November 2016

Dear Cienega Families,

November is a great time of year to pause from our busy lives, take a moment to reflect, and be thankful.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children. It truly is wonderful showing up to work everyday to help shape the lives of over 2000 teenagers.

We are thankful for our Bobcat Family here at Cienega High School. Our teachers and staff are some of the most hardworking, dedicated, school-spirit filled people around. Working beside people we respect and trust is priceless!

To improve school communication, we are continuing to utilize a free App called SchoolWay. We will be using this App to push information to parents and students. Please download the App to your smart phone or to your computer. To download the App, go to the App store or the Android Play Store and search for SchoolWay, or go to  http://myschoolway.com  for the web application.
1. Create an Account
2. Select your Role
3. Enter the following WAYCODE: roct44 (This will automatically link you to Cienega High School)

Lastly, I would like to invite you to come see our students excel in their extra-curricular activities. Our Fine Arts and Athletic programs are excelling. We will have many performances and athletic events in the near future. Please check our calendar for the schedule.

As always, thank you for your support in helping to get all of our students college and career ready.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CHRONICLE

College Exploration
On November 1st interested Cienega High School seniors were treated to a tour of Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. The folks at GCU provided a comfortable chartered bus, led students on a tour of their beautiful campus, and treated the students to the lunch of their choice. Applicants had their application fees waived.

On November 7th Cienega High School freshman students in the Bobcat Scholars Academy visited the University of Arizona. They learned about the history and offerings available at the U of A, questioned a panel of current students, toured the campus, and ate lunch with the college students at the Student Union.

Did you know?

Students have access to as many as seven full-length, timed, ACT and SAT practice tests through the following website : www.march2success.org . It's a free website and scores are received immediately. This website provides users access to online study materials to help improve their scores on standardized tests such as state exit exams, college entrance exams, military entrance exam (ASVAB) and others.  The content includes self-paced study programs in Math, English and Science, with a focus of materials on grades 8-12.  The High School Math and Verbal Skills course and College Readiness online course each start with a pre-assessment test, using the results to generate a custom learning path.  The learning path includes interactive lessons, quizzes and additional practice tests.  The High School Science Hub provides lessons and practice tests in Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The website is established by the U S Army, but the Army does not use it as a recruitment tool, nor do they share your information with others.

There are only a few weeks of classes left until the end of the semester. Make every grade count!
