On October 1, 2020 Feed the Need hosted its 3rd annual Putnam Teens Fighting Hunger Event at Grace Fellowship and it was a huge success!! Feed the Need teamed up with Hunger Fight of Jacksonville and made it happen once again!! Nearly 200 teenagers and many adults from across Putnam County joined forces to stamp out hunger for food insecure students in our community by packing more than 26,000 pounds of food. Our sponsors for the event were Azalea City Kiwanis, State Farm Corporate, and State Farm Local Offices Edith Aldrich and Susan Helwig. A special Thank You to 3rd Street Charities for providing pizza for everyone. We are extremely grateful for our sponsors and all the volunteers who participated, without them this would not be possible. Thank you so much to all the teens who came out to help, you are the leaders of tomorrow!!

SEMINOLE ELECTRIC GIVES
FTNPC was 1 of 3 Nonprofits chosen by Seminole Electric Cooperative, Inc. to be part of the campaign, "Seminole Gives: Covid-19 Pandemic Relief." FTNPC sends a huge THANK YOU to all who donated and participated in this drive! The Palatka plant location also collected and delivered over 2500 lbs of food to fill weekend bags. Feed The Need of Putnam county Executive Director Denise Bramlitt was honored to receive a check for $21,500.00 from Seminole Electric Employees, Seminole Electric Corporation, CoBank & TIC/Kiewit Corp presented by Seminole Electric Plant Manager Jerry McClellan and Palatka Systems Manager Brian McDaniel.

The mission of the Florida Blue Foundation is to help people and communities achieve better health. Feed The Need was blessed to be a recipient of one of their grants in May 2020. The Florida Blue Foundation strategically allocates grants toward philanthropic, community-based solutions through its focus areas and programs that focus on health solutions, multicultural and growing populations, and critical issues of affordability, access, and quality. Feed The Need was chosen because of our mission to stamp out hunger for food insecure students in Putnam County by providing them with over the weekend meals and snacks throughout the school year. Feeding up to 850 children every weekend is no easy task, but we work hard every single day to achieve our goals. The generosity and support from organizations like the Florida Blue Foundation helps us continue to grow and serve our community in a positive way.
