I am thankful! God has given us many reasons to give thanks at National Heights. We dedicated our new children, youth and welcome areas during October; what a blessed time to pray over these areas of ministry! You have given more than $600,000 to the Envision project. Thank you! As we finish out the last few months of the Envision effort, your gifts will save the church ministry dollars as we finish paying for what God has led us to do.
I am thankful for our community ministries, led by our WMU, the Stepping Out Team, and your prayers, God is allowing NHBC to touch our community through ministries like our Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets, the Blessing Box, and much more.
I am thankful for a church that believes in missions; as we prepare for our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in December, pray about how God can use your gift to share the gospel around the world.
I am thankful for the blessing of being your pastor. I can’t wait to see what God is going to do through you!

Stepping Out Testimonies
Many of our membership are “stepping out” into the community. This focus each month will allow you to hear from them, know how you can pray for that outreach and perhaps be inspired to join in as well.
What Volunteering With Hospice Means To Me
~
Carol Mazzucca
I sit with patients and work in the office. It is such a blessing and very rewarding. In the office, I help the staff, make packets, do some computer work, scan, alphabetize,.... It feels so good to help out. I know that I make a difference there and I get to meet all kinds of new people.
When we are born, we celebrate life. With Hospice, you also celebrate a life. Yes, it is the end of life, but you should celebrate it to the fullest. Hospice means being there for someone. Many of our patients do not have any surviving family members, and they do not want to die alone.
Hospice means being there for that person during their time of need. You have to have compassion, sympathy and total understanding for the patient. You are their friend when they feel they have none. Hospice is going the extra mile for your patient. Hospice is making a difference in their lives. You want to make them feel like we have been friends forever. I bring them treats, I joke around with them and I truly listen to them and help them out if feasible.
In our lifetime from birth to death, we have built many fences. Some may become broken, but what we have to remember is to overlook the broken fences, and to admire all of the beautiful flowers on the other side. Even in death, the flowers are beautiful.

WOMEN ON MISSION TO STUDY ROHINGYA PEOPLES
On
Tuesday, November 12, the Women on Mission will gather in fellowship hall at 9:30 a.m. for the study of International Missions. This year the study continues the problem addressed last year. That is the problem of refugees around the world and the crisis situations often involved. The study will be led by Delores Thompson. Our study will focus on both the incredible challenges and the extraordinary opportunities the refugee crisis presents to missionaries and all followers of Christ. Our prayer is that this study will inspire us to learn more about refugees in our own community, in our country, and around the world. We will see how our giving can help bring others around the world to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. Our Gifts Do Transform Lives. Our National Heights Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Goal for International Missions this year is $19,000. Our national goal is $165 Million. All money given goes directly for missionaries and mission needs; none is used for administrative costs.
The business and reporting session of the morning is led by Presidents Doris Whitcher and Judy Divine. This will be followed by the informal coffee/snack/chat time. Hostesses for this meeting are Ruth Scott and Doris Whitcher. Men and women of the church are invited to attend any or all of the morning’s activities. Come, learn and enjoy.
HELPERS NEEDED TO ASSEMBLE THANKSGIVING BASKETS
On
Monday morning, November 24, we will be assembling the Thanksgiving baskets for 20 to 22 families from our church and community area. This includes several families from our partnership school, Roberson Elementary.
BOTH MEN AND WOMEN are needed to help with this process.
PLEASE COME AT 9:00 to fellowship hall. We should be finished in about two hours, depending on the number of volunteers. The baskets will be picked up by the designated families from noon to 1:00 that same day. You will be blessed by sharing this time together.
ITEMS NEEDED FOR THANKSGIVING BASKETS
During the month of November our church will be collecting the following items to be used in the 20 to 22 Thanksgiving baskets, serving 100 to 110 people, that we will be assembling for families of our church community. Please place the items in the tubs at the church entrances. If you prefer to give funds, that is just fine! Just designate your envelop by writing, “BASKETS” on it. We always need money for the turkeys, eggs, milk, and produce items that must be purchased. Bless you for your generosity!
Canned tuna, chicken, soups, chili, vegetables, & fruit; macaroni & cheese; pastas; rice; cake mix & icing; crackers; cereal; peanut butter & jelly; liquid hand soap; dish washing soap; and paper products.
