Thank You To Our Outgoing President of LRBRA
Greg Page, Construction Loan Specialist for Meredith Village Savings Bank stepped into his role as president of LRBRA fall of 2020. He has been involved in virtually all aspects of the association including a watchful eye on the work at the Huot Tech build project, inspections and last minute labor to complete the project. He was involved with organizing meaningful events and eduction opportunities for the members, including workshops, seminars, networking, fundraisers and more. It is his behind-the-scenes work that we are thankful for and especially his willingness to step up into this leadership role. Thank you for helping the association forge through this challenging "Pandemic" year Greg! Greg will still serve on the board as our immediate past president but will be enjoying warmer weather down south over the winter months.

ENERGY AUDIT ON THE STUDENT BUILT HOME

Using the Huot House as an example. There was no real effort to meet the current energy star requirements. Using the chosen building practices and products, there was very little that was needed to do after the fact to comply with the current Energy Star requirements. We needed to change out the bath fan which if it had been done during the initial construction phase, it would have increased the cost by no more than $100. We added a timer switch for the bath fan that was $70. We also had to vent out the microwave which was not a huge ordeal and cost less then $100 in parts.
A HERS rating of 50 was achieved! As far as the air leakage test we also achieved less than 3 air exchanges which is the goal. The smaller the house the harder it is to achieve the tightness and given the limited cubic feet in the dwelling it's pretty impressive. Note: MacKinnon Construction was hired by the new homeowner as the General Contractor to complete the build.

Annie and Jim Clark have joined forces to offer interior design services, and computer aided design services. Jim does the CAD work for Annie’s proposals for customers. Jim provides a full range of CAD services for builders, or anyone with a building project. Many small builders do not have the technical expertise that might be needed for formal presentations to customers, or to resolve difficult design details. A builder or a home owner may need professional, fully dimensioned drawings for any number of reasons. Building code enforcement is becoming increasingly demanding, this is an area where we can be of tremendous help. Most importantly, whether it’s interior design, or home construction, seeing the finished product before it is started is critical to keep a contractor and a customer on the same page … at the beginning, when it’s most important.
