Wanting to improve the overall look of a pair of earrings that contained a pair of yellow diamonds, this client also had several pieces of diamond jewelry that she no longer wore. After evaluating the number of diamonds in all the various pieces, it was determined that 2 new pairs of earrings could be created. The first design would be to add a double row of diamonds around the radiant cut yellow diamonds, to create a more substantial, impressive "stand alone" earring, that better highlighted the central yellow color. This earrings was produced with "clip backs" so the client could position the earrings higher up on her earlobes, as they were not evenly pierced. The yellow diamonds were set in an 18 karat yellow gold "cup" to intensify their color and make a better contrast to the white diamond border.
This second earring was created to be more fun and whimsical and to be light on the ear, with a newly created handmade round top with a centered post and jumbo push backs, to sit well on the client's lobes. The original yellow gold diamond star earrings were kept intact, rhodium plated white in color and suspended from a custom made diamond stick, measuring 1.5 inches long, which swings from the round diamond top.
The client was extremely happy with the overall transformation of her old items into 2 new gorgeous pairs of earrings! Additionally, a scrap gold credit of over $2,000 was applied to the final invoice, as the old settings were heavy +18 karat gold. With gold at all time high records, NOW is the time for you to makeover your old pieces!
