MISSION BOARD NEWS

QUILTING BEE
There will be an old-fashioned Quilting Bee in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday afternoon, November 10, beginning at 1:00 pm. This event is not just for ladies, but men and youth who can cut and tie thread are welcome to join in the fun. The quilts are part of our Lutheran World Relief project, to bring warmth and comfort to people in Lutheran hospitals, refugees and folks living in dire poverty. Come help us quilt and enjoy fellowship, refreshments and hands on ministry.

MISSION TREE
Just before Thanksgiving we’ll have our Mission Tree in the Narthex covered with opportunities to help local ministries like Adam’s Angels, Children’s Protective Services and the Brenham Police Department’s Toys for Tots, along with programs and projects of our congregation. Look for the Tree and choose one or more “ornaments” to support in the Advent season.

THANKOFFERING COLLECTION
On Sunday, November 24, we’ll take a special offering to support Lutheran Disaster Response and their efforts to respond to the areas hardest hit by hurricanes making landfall in the U.S. in 2019. LDR not only brings food, clothing and water to help with immediate needs, but stays to help the communities rebuild...helping people faced with the loss of homes and jobs in natural disasters is part of being a Lutheran follower of Jesus, so plan on helping us raise funds for this worthwhile ministry.

CHRIST LUTHERAN DAY SCHOOL
Fall is finally in the air at the Day School and we are taking advantage of all that it brings! The pumpkin patch sets the stage for many of our activities from daily photo ops to     picnics out front, pumpkin painting and various learning experiences using pumpkins from right outside our front door. We thank CLASS for making this long-standing tradition possible year after year. The glow in the dark room has been a favorite hang out for all ages with a mysterious, mesmerizing look into night time on the African savanna. With a nod to The Lion King, it is the perfect segue to our upcoming Fall Family Fest. Join us for games, silent auction, tasty treats and a viewing of The Lion King outside on November 8 at 6:00pm.
Blessings,
Ginny Gaskamp
