NOVEMBER 2025 NEWSLETTER

WRAC Member-Owners:

We’re thrilled to flip the calendar to November and finally open our new dedicated indoor pickleball facility! It’s been three years since we began planning this expansion, and almost two years since we began to build.

The WRAC has made a significant financial commitment to create a new facility that we hope will be the pickleball destination of choice in North Central Washington. Although we encountered numerous regulatory hurdles and delays with resultant cost increases along the way, we are happy to report we have not borrowed more than what we originally planned at the beginning of the project. Our membership and our revenues are at all-time highs, and the WRAC is on strong financial footing as we complete our latest expansion.

Here are a few key dates as we get ready to open our doors:

  • November 14-16: Thank Goodness For Pickleball Tournament (link here)
  • November 19: Pickleball Center Ribbon-cutting Ceremony (See Court News)
  • December 6: Celebration and Fundraiser Event “Celebrate and Elevate” (link here

The new facility is something every member-owner can celebrate:

  • Pickleball players have a state-of-the-art facility with the best amenities possible!
  • Tennis players will get significantly more playing opportunities after sharing space with pickleball for the past four years. Thank you for sharing the vision, and allowing pickleball to grow!
  • Every single member will benefit from the overall membership growth, and the increasing revenues that will allow us to upgrade and make capital improvements in all areas of our operation.

The WRAC is successful because the whole operation is greater than the sum of its offerings. Any single purpose facility would not be viable, but with our combined activities we’ve created a club that has something to offer for everyone. We’re better together, and there’s a very real sense of community at the WRAC.

That vision is exemplified by long-time members Dean and Donna Parsons. Four generations of their family have been part of the WRAC since the very beginning, and their tennis resumes are long and full of accomplishments. But when they saw a pickleball crowdfunding initiative for unbudgeted cushioned courts, they made a very generous matching donation to help accomplish that goal. Thank you Dean and Donna!

In that spirit, we hope all of our members can feel they’re part of something larger than just a participant in their favorite activity. Our member-owned non-profit club is different from a private business. Many members collectively volunteer thousands of hours every year, and all earnings are ultimately reinvested to make your WRAC an attractive option in a competitive marketplace. We ask you to get involved, share your thoughts, and act like you own the place - because you do!

Sincerely,

Your WRAC Board of Directors

Opportunities to Give Back This Holiday Season

NCW Community

Toy Drive

We’re proud to support the NCW Community Toy Drive, a local effort that helps make the holidays brighter for children and families in the Wenatchee Valley.

Each year, generous community members come together to donate new, unwrapped toys that are distributed to kids in need across North Central Washington.

It’s a wonderful way to share joy and give back to the community we all call home.

Donations can be dropped off at the WRAC lobby beginning on November 22.

Thank you for helping spread holiday cheer!

The Hope Chest

Christmas Clothing Drive

Hope Chest is a local outreach that provides gently used clothes free of charge to local foster families and relative caregivers.

WRAC members can support these families and children by donating NEW underwear, socks, pajamas, waterproof gloves/mittens or shoes. They stock preemie to adult XXXL in their store. So any size or gender of the above items are appreciated.

Bring items between Dec. 7-20 to the WRAC lobby and place in designated boxes.

Thank you for your generosity!

We’d love to hear about a person or memory that makes the WRAC special to you.

Want to give a shoutout to a member or team member?

Email elsie@wrac.org—we’d love to share the love!
