I have to say - I've sat through several webinars and joined with you and the 200+ people there last week, and there still is so much to be learned. I will keep you up to date once I have time to digest it all and start the process! Just know that really no employer and no employee are exempt, so all small businesses who may be doing payroll themselves, will have to learn how to enter hours/manage a new deduction on both the employer/employee side. More to come...

Deerwood Bank started back in 1910 in Deerwood MN to serve the mix of settlers, miners and shop owners. Fast forward to today where they have 17 locations and were recognized this year in Newsweek's pick for American Best Regional Bank/Credit Union. The locations run from Baxter/Brainerd area south to Sartell/St. Michael and even St. Paul!

Though they have several branches, it is still a privately owned bank where they are nimble and personable like a small town bank. They offer financial services, personal and business savings/loans/lines of credit and treasury management. They pride themselves in building deep relationships with their customers and want to be part of the community they serve. They continue to grow and expand, so are always looking for great staff to be a part of their team.

Paul Weber is the Sr. VP of Business Banking and resides in Buffalo. He wanted to immerse himself in the community where he lives, so joined our Chamber and the Rotary Club here as well. Thanks Paul - we love active members like you!

Back in the day, Dan & Jerry's had a large presence here in Buffalo. Then they moved their primary operations to Monticello as they outgrew Buffalo. What I didn't know, is that they have this beautiful garden retail center there that was blooming with fall goods! Their old garden center here was Tatanka Gardens and then two staff of Dan & Jerry's opened Rustic Gardens as it is today.

What started as a vegetable farm with starter plants back in 1979 has grown to having 500 employees at its peak season! They have greenhouses in Madison, SD and Pella IA and just recently purchased a facility in Harrisville, MO. All total - they have 100 acres of covered green houses, have 5 states where they grow and their products go to 20 states! Who would have thought right? They still sell their starter seeds to place like Runnings and Fleet Farm etc..., but have so much more. From starter plants, to full grown arrangements, to fresh produce, succulents and everything for every season.

Look at all the beautiful fall Mums in the photos, but they are preparing for Christmas too! It will soon be poinsettia and porch pot season! They host several events - including the one below! They have done a Trial Garden where people can come and taste test and rate their produce and bring questions and they always host a Mother's Day event!

Take the short drive and enjoy all their colorful offerings! Below are Ambassadors in blue with the garden center staff! We sure had fun shopping!

UPDATING/CREATING OUR 2026 GUIDE!

You will be hearing from Katie, Heidi, Sarah or Charmain from Prime Advertising as we look to create our Chamber Directory/Community Resource Guide for 2026! We print over 17,000 of these and they are mailed to all homes and businesses in the Buffalo, Hanover, Montrose, and Rockford area as well as mailed to new homeowners throughout the year and left with real estate offices, the school district, office waiting rooms and more!

As a Chamber member you can promote your business by placing an ad (at a discounted rate) and your business is listed by category and alphabetically in the back free of charge. You can upgrade that listing with your logo.

On a side note - since we write the content and all the photos are real (not canned images) in our Directory, if you have any photos of you doing life in Buffalo - send them my way!

AN ASK FROM HAVENWOOD FOR THEIR EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION

We are reaching out to ask for your help in spreading the word to Chamber members and local businesses. We are seeking donations to support approximately 50 employees, most of whom are Buffalo residents and the majority female.

Contributions can include:

Gift items or merchandise (such as water bottles, mugs, or other useful items)
Promotional items
Gift cards or coupons
Monetary contributions (to be pooled together to purchase appreciation gifts)

Donations may be sent or dropped off at Havenwood of Buffalo by Friday, October 17th.

Any support from our local business community would go a long way in helping us make this celebration meaningful for our team. We would also be happy to recognize participating businesses in our internal communications and at the event.
