Injured WI Veteran Riders to Receive a
Harley-Davidson to Start 2023's Season!
Hogs For Heroes is a small, Wisconsin-only nonprofit that raises funds to buy Harley-Davidson motorcycles for injured WI Veteran riders whose healing may benefit from returning to the road for what we riders call "wind therapy". We believe regaining the freedom and peace of the open road, the pride and joy found in ownership, and the supportive camaraderie of the rider community can provide therapeutic benefit to those Veterans who have enjoyed the passion for riding and now find themselves without means or ability to have that bike in their life. We work to help heal mental and physical wounds, suffered during active duty, by using a motorcycle as the tool to redirect and support lives fractured by service.
To be clear, our gift is NOT an award for service: it is about helping a struggling, possibly at-risk Veteran heal, reconnect and re-engage by riding again. We know motorcycling isn't everyone's cup of tea; but if it's in your blood, its absence can hamper who you are and how you live. That is why we, at this time, only seek those Veterans with a current motorcycle license and a history of riding.
Our small nonprofit's goal is to gift one Harley a year and subsequently change one struggling life with wind therapy. Never in a million years did we think we'd return 31 Wisconsin Veterans back to the road in just over six years of gifting Harleys! And with the stunning support of our Hogs For Heroes friends and family... we're about to start our seventh year of gifting bikes by changing a few more lives.
Right now we plan to gift EIGHT bikes in 2023. With the opening of this application period, we will select our first six recipients to receive Harleys and stagger their roll out May through July. We will open a second, shorter application period in May and select a few more Veterans to regain wind therapy during the second half of summer.
We say it all the time, but it is our fabulous supporters who put that kind of fuel in our tank; and we couldn't be more grateful to have you believe in us and join us in our fundraising efforts.
