Dear NACUA Colleagues,
With 2024 coming to a close, I want to recognize the incredible volunteer contributions made by our membership and our extraordinary volunteer leaders. NACUA’s achievements would not be possible without you.
Each November, we open the Call for Nominations for the NACUA Board of Directors to our full membership. Volunteer leaders are vital in helping to lead our association, and we ask that you consider nominating worthy candidates to serve in the following roles:
- Office of Chair-Elect
- Office of Secretary
- Six (6) Directors-at-Large
Nominations can be made via email to nominations@nacua.org. Each nomination should include the full name of your candidate and the position(s) you are nominating them for. The nomination deadline is Wednesday, January 15, 2025. You may nominate a candidate for multiple offices (e.g., Chair-Elect and at-Large Director) and you may nominate more than one individual.
NACUA will subsequently reach out directly to each nominee to determine if they are willing to serve and request additional information. While you may discuss the nomination with a candidate prior to nomination, you are not responsible for determining their willingness to serve or for providing us with background information on your nominee(s). All submissions will be acknowledged. If you do not receive an acknowledgment within five business days of submission, please contact Executive Assistant & Board Coordinator Marie Fenton at mdf@nacua.org to confirm it was received.
As outlined in the full nominations process timeline, available here, in March 2025, the Committee on Nominations and Elections will determine the slate of nominees. There will be an opportunity to nominate individuals outside of this process after the slate of nominees has been named, as provided for in NACUA’s bylaws.
Historically, the position of Chair has alternated between a public and private institution representative. As the current Chair-Elect represents the University of Michigan, we are interested in nominees from private institutions to serve in the 2025-2026 term year. Under NACUA’s bylaws, the Chair-Elect automatically assumes the office of Chair during the next fiscal year.
Service on NACUA’s Board is a valuable opportunity to support our members by participating in NACUA’s governance process. We invite you to view NACUA’s statements of mission and core values, and the lists of current and past Board members as you consider who you might nominate. Additional information that may help inform your nominations are the updated strategic framework and the statements of Board responsibilities.
The NACUA nominations process can only thrive through wide and open participation by the membership. Please take this opportunity to nominate a deserving colleague.
If you have questions regarding this process, please contact me at the email address below, or Marie Fenton at mdf@nacua.org. We welcome all inquiries and we are committed to maintaining the confidentiality of the nominations and deliberations throughout and following the process.
