The ABN/ BME met for a special session on February 16th in a joint effort to expand the FTE ratio. Both boards agreed upon a 9:1 FTE ratio with monthly quality assurance (QA) for the first 6 months then decreasing to quarterly. The QA requirements for the current FTE ratio of 4:1 will not change. This is a huge step forwards and a big thanks to everyone involved in the process.
The second issue that was discussed concerns the CRNP’s rx number required on prescriptions. Recently, pharmacy audits conducted by third party payers revealed that most electronic prescriptions did not have the rx number built into the prescription, therefore, payment was being denied to the pharmacy. The ABN has filed an emergency ruling to remove the rx number requirement from prescriptions. We anticipate this ruling to take effect on March 19, 2021. Until the ruling is in effect, please continue to modify your prescriptions to include the rx number.
