Spencer reflects on his trip to D.C. for Propane Days 2025...
"As I step into my role as National State Director, I'm beyond ecstatic and eager to get to work advocating for all of us in New Jersey and at the national level, especially on critical issues like LIHEAP and Energy Choice. I'm incredibly grateful to be in this position and humbled by the warm welcome I've received.
I attended my first Propane Days in Washington, D.C. which had been nothing short of inspiring. Jacqueline Piazza (NJPGA Executive Director), James Wiltshire (NJPGA Director & F.W. Webb Co.), and I hit the ground running—walking miles through the House and Senate, meeting nearly every district representative from New Jersey. I was nervous at first, not knowing what to expect, but James and Jacqueline did an amazing job showing me the ropes—especially James, who’s clearly a seasoned D.C. pro. There were definitely some laughs along the way, too.
During a quick coffee break, we mapped out our next meeting and I ran to the restroom, planning to meet Jacqueline and James at the next representative's office door. I jumped on the elevator, went all the way up to the fourth floor, walked nearly the entire building—only to get a text saying, ‘We’re in the waiting area, see you soon.’ I replied, ‘I’m on the elevator,’ and James quickly shot back, ‘Elevator?!’ Turns out the meeting was in Room 106, not 426 where I was standing with my hand on the door ready to walk in like I owned the place. I think as you’re reading this, Jacqueline is still cracking up!
We’ve got our work cut out for us, but I’m ready to serve and represent with everything I’ve got."
