Cancellation Notice - June Statewide Laboratory Advisory Meeting

The Statewide Laboratory Advisory Meeting, originally scheduled for June 10th, has been cancelled.


We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The next scheduled meeting will be Monday, July 8, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. (CDT).

A Note for Spring and Summer Influenza


If your laboratory identifies an influenza positive specimen, influenza A or B, please send it to NPHL for further characterization.

Salmonella Outbreaks Linked to Backyard Poultry


The CDC released an Investigation Notice on May 23, 2024, notifying the public of a multistate outbreak of Salmonella that is linked to backyard poultry.


At this writing, 6 people in Nebraska have been linked to this outbreak.

May Laboratory Advisory Meeting


During May's lab meeting, Derek Julian, MPH updated laboratories on the current situation with influenza, RSV, and Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza and

Benchtop Biohazards: Recognize, Rule-out, and Refer Wet Workshop


The Benchtop Biohazard Workshop will again take place in September this year.


On September 5th, the workshop will be in North Platte at the Mid-Plains Community College Campus. On September 12th, it will be in Omaha at the UNMC campus.
