We were pleased to hear from the following individuals:
- Claire Connley, Nampa Library Director
- Laura Abbott, Youth Services Manager – Laura applied for the grant and worked with Idaho Educational Services for the Deaf and the Blind (IESDB) to decide which items to purchase
- Together Treasure Valley Sponsors: Andi Gordon with the Idaho Statesman, Lori Gull with Idaho Central Credit Union, and Scott Madison with Intermountain Gas
- Sharlyn Jackson, Librarian at the Idaho Educational Services for the Deaf and the Blind (IESDB), accompanied by IESDB’s Blind/Low Vision Assistive Technology Specialist and other staff members
- LeAnn Gelskey, Talking Book Service Program Supervisor with the Idaho Commission for Libraries (ICfL)
- Nampa Mayor Debbie Kling
We were also pleased to have members of the Nampa City Council, Nampa Library Board, Nampa Library Foundation, Friends of the Nampa Library, and several Nampa Library staff in attendance.
With guidance from the Idaho Educational Services for the Deaf and Blind, many new resources were purchased for patron use. The largest purchase was the Acuity Speech Desktop Video Magnifier, which is a user-friendly desktop magnifier that can scan and read documents. The documents can be magnified up to 65x and can be read aloud where the interpreted language, voice, speed, tone and volume can be adjusted. This machine is available on the 3rd floor of the Library near the information desk.
Additional resources purchased include specialized books with braille, VOX books (books that talk), large print materials, educational sensory toys and youth games.
