FOR ALL FAMILIES:
VIRUS THRESHOLDS AND COVID TRACKING WEBSITE
In conjunction with the Natick Board Of Health, the following overview of Virus Thresholds and COVID Closure and Communications Procedures. This is a guiding framework for use in the coming months as we work to keep schools healthy.
We will update the dashboard every week with the Board of Health. The Board of Health will work with Dr. Nolin, the superintendent, to make decisions about virus impact to classroom, school and district closures or openings. The Board of Health has some latitude within aspects of the framework relative to virus clusters (i.e. high rates of nursing home infections should not dictate the closing of schools but would create higher overall community reflection rates). Each Friday, we will also indicate any schools who have quarantined cohorts and overall confirmed cases. However, a three week window of data for the community as detailed in the above memo will be the indicators used by the Board of Health to decide our open/closure rates. Classes and individuals who must be quarantined will be notified by both our nurses and the Board of Health. Rigorous contact tracing and COVID notice procedures will then ensue.
In schools this week, one NHS staff member was confirmed COVID positive. This was not a student-facing position. All close contacts have been notified and have not become positive as of this message. Cases are tracked by the BOH, NPS nursing staff and the Department of Education Mobile Virus Response Unit.
Help Us Choose the Best Hours for Academic Help Desk Support for all Remote Learners (Hybrid or Remote Learning Academy)
Natick's Academic Help Desk is designed to offer support to students who are working remotely in any program in grades K-12. Please help us decide when we should schedule the Academic Help Desk by responding to this short survey.
We plan to begin offering the Academic Help Desk during the week of 9/29. Natick Public Schools teachers will be available to assist students Monday through Thursday at consistent times each week.
SPECIAL EDUCATION UPDATES
In a typical school year, the first two weeks of live school are the time period where student services are scheduled and refined in order to meet the most personalized needs of each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP). To assist with parent understanding of programming the office of student services offers this
Mr. Luff will follow up with a pre-recorded presentation on this topic (parents said they like to listen to these items). This will be sent directly to special education parents over the weekend.
FOR ALL HYBRID AND FULL TIME LIVE STUDENTS
REMINDER: STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO RECEIVE FLU SHOT BY DECEMBER 31,2020. FLU CLINICS WILL OCCUR IN COMING MONTHS.
This is an important reminder from the Natick Public Schools.
The Daily COVID Health Assessment tool will send all students who will attend school live in any given week an email notice starting at 4:30 (our first group of students gets on a bus at 5:30, hence the early notice). You are required to fill out this form about the health of your child. Your child will not be admitted to school on this or any other day without this completed.
There are still many of you who have not done your powerschool forms so you will not receive this form.
As a back up plan for those families who do not receive the health attestation automated email tomorrow morning, we have created this additional safety net. If you did not receive the daily email by 6 a.m. (check SPAM please), click the school link below and fill out the form. You may text the completion screen shot to your older child, or, for elementary students, your child's homeroom teacher will have the notice of whether you filled out the form for your child(ren).
Fill the below out only if you did not receive the automated email link ON THE WEEKS YOU ARE ATTENDING LIVE SCHOOL.
If you did neither of these things, your child will be asked to call you for an attestation over the phone. If you cannot be reached, the child will be held outside of class and will need to be returned home, so emergency contacts will be called.
Thank you for your cooperation in this public safety matter.
