Happy November All!
It's hard to believe we are already approaching the end of the year! It's been very busy with our new Passport to the World lunch series as well as regularly scheduled parties & events that happen this time of year. If you haven't participated in anything yet, no fear, there is more to come. Please see the attached Activity Calendar for a full schedule.
Here are some highlights:
First up we will be closed on Friday, 11/10 in observance of Veteran's Day as well as Thursday, 11/23 for Thanksgiving.
GeNarrations is wrapping up their fall class and will be performing at Portage Park at 1:30pm on Thursday, 11/16. This will be a combined performace with the Portage Park group. We encourage everyone to attend at this alternate site(4001 N Long Chicago 60641).
Additionally, we are extremely excited for our planned Art Exhibit on Friday, 11/17. We had no idea what talented members we had and we can't wait for you to see their work. We will not have a traditional lunch time that day as it will be various items for purchase including pulled pork sandwiches during the exhibit.
Thanksgiving will be celebrated on Monday, 11/20 with a special turkey dinner from the City. Please note there will be No Computer Study Hall this month as well as no Book Club.
Looking ahead to December, we will have Book Club on Thursday, 12/7 as well as our Holiday Bazaar & Cookie Sale on December 21. Any donations for this fundraiser are greatly appreciated. We need bakers & crafters as well as holiday items for children & adults to sell. This will be publicized to the community.
Regarding Michele's Fitness Classes, other than no class on Thanksgiving, in-person should be our usual schedule. Please consult with Michele on any changes to her Zoom schedule.
As mentioned in last month's email, we will begin collecting the $30/yr (60+)City of Chicago fifitness fee for those who attend her classes and/or use the fitness room. Please ask for more details or if you have questions.

Finally, once again this year, we will be participating in Giving Tuesday, 11/28. This kicks off our annual Holiday Appeal where we invite members & family to contribute to the fiscal well-being of our Center. Many are unaware that our Center operates off an $80,000 grant from the City of Chicago. As you can imagine, that is spread very thin when you consider staff & supplies. We ask our members to help suppliment overages with any monetary donation they may see fit. This appeal will be going on through the holiday season.
