Hello Everyone.
I'm getting the December email out before we all get lost in the upcoming holiday hoopla. First & foremost, I wish you all a lovely Thanksgiving. May you each know how grateful Joyce & I are that you are a part of our senior center family. We will be closed on Thanksgiving day, but open regular hours the day after.
Attached is our December Activity calendar & menu as well as flyers of some upcoming events. We have three Lunch & Learns planned for this month. The first is a discussion on the importance of Life Alert systems on Thursday, 12/4. The next on Tuesday, 12/9, we welcome the Cook County Assessors office to come speak about exemptions & certificates of error and the third will be Friday 12/12 with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Additionally, please note, Book Club will be on Thursday, 12/5. There will be NO Sewing Dresses for Africa this month as well as no Tai Chi on 12/24 & 12/31.
Laughter yoga also has different days this month so please check the calendar. You will also see we have added the new Yoga class on Tuesdays at 2:15pm & offer Freestyle Dancing at 9:15am each Friday unless otherwise noted.
We will have a planning committee meeting on Monday 12/8 at 10:30am to discuss 2026. I encourge everyone to attend. Let us know what events you would like to see again or if you have new ideas. This is your Center. Let us know what you want to do here.
Our main event of the month will be our Holiday party on Wednesday, 12/17. This will include a special meal & our Christmas carole sing-a-long. The sign up sheet is available for the meal. You must let us know by 12/8 otherwise we cannot guarantee a meal. All are welcome to come sing regardless if eating or not. Bingo will be cancelled that day.
We will also be having our famous cookie sale which will include small & large assortments as well as other baked goods & treats on Thursday 12/18. This year we will have our holiday bazaar/thrift sale throughout the month located in the massage room. You will also see some fabulous gift baskets we will be selling raffle tickets throughout the month. These have become a wonderful fundraising source. Thank you to our elves who put all this together.
Finally, I want to close with our annual holiday appeal which kicks off on 12/2, Giving Tuesday. I have attached the letter in this email but we will be passing out hard copies to all who come to the Center. I have already received hundreds in early donations which is amazing. Thank you so much to those who have already given & those intending to give in the upcoming weeks. Any amount is appreciated.
