Welcome to the second edition of NQP Pulse, the newsletter of the Nassau Queens Performing Provider System (NQP). This newsletter is meant to keep you up-to-date on relevant activities and resources surrounding DSRIP and NQP.
News and Updates
Dr. Gilbert Burgos Named Interim Executive Director of NQP
Gilbert Burgos, MD, MPH, has been named Interim Executive Director of NQP. He will be serving in this role in addition to his role as Medical Director for NQP where he is engaged in defining the overall direction and clinical vision of the organization. 

Dr. Burgos has held several senior level medical management positions throughout his career. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of Medical Management, and Executive Vice President/Chief Medical Officer at Advantage Care Physicians/Preferred Health Partners. He was also Senior Vice President/Chief Medical Officer at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, MI, where his efforts contributed to the successful financial improvement of the hospital. Dr. Burgos received a Doctor of Medicine degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard School of Public Health, a Bachelor of Science degree from Fordham University, and is a Board Certified Physician Executive of the American Association for Physician Leadership.

Dr. Burgos takes over for David Nemiroff, LCSW, Executive Director of the Long Island Federally Qualified Health Centers (LIFQHC), who was instrumental in laying the groundwork for the development of NQP’s Project Management Office. David will continue to focus on his role with the LIFQHC, in which he is responsible for overall operations. We thank him and wish him continued success, and extend a warm welcome to Dr. Burgos.
LIFQHC - Roosevelt Health Center Serves as Pilot in MAX Series Program
Through the Medicaid Accelerated eXchange (MAX) Series program, Roosevelt Health Center, a Long Island Federally Qualified Health Center (LIFQHC) of NuHealth, participated in an 8-month learning collaborative, with 3 workshops, to facilitate measurable action steps and a work plan for integrating behavioral health into primary care. Zucker Hillside Hospital Successfully Integrates Primary Care with Behavioral Health
Zucker Hillside Hospital, a psychiatric hospital of Northwell Health, has successfully integrated primary care into its practice. The integration means that outpatient behavioral health patients can now receive primary care during their behavioral health appointments, helping service a population who may otherwise be reluctant to seek primary care. hitesite.org: An Online Directory of Community Based Organizations

Through the website hitesite.org, the Health Information Tool for Empowerment (HITE) operates a user-friendly, online directory featuring approximately 5,000 health and social services available to low-income, uninsured, and underinsured individuals. You can utilize this directory, and suggest that your organization be added to it. Read more

NQP Events
PAC Meeting

The next NQP Project Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting will be held in December 2016. There will be more information to come as meeting logistics are finalized.

More than 130 team members of our partner organizations attended the September PAC meeting where meeting topics included: Accomplishments and looking forward to the future; a Crisis Clinic presentation; Services available in the Nassau and Queens service area; Opportunities to Better Collaborate with Hospital Partners.

Value-Based Payments Corner
As part of DSRIP goals, all managed care organizations (MCO) must employ non-fee-for-service payment systems that reward value over volume for at least 80% of their provider payments by the year 2020 (waiver Year 5).

The New York State Department of Health is hosting two upcoming value-based payment bootcamps:
