PUBLICATION POLICY

NRA to Begin Publishing Repeat Code of Ethics Violators

In an effort to make the ethics enforcement process more transparent, beginning August 31, 2026, the Nebraska REALTORS® Association will publish information regarding members who incur a second Code of Ethics violation within a three-year period.

The following information may be published:

  1. The member's name. If the member's name is similar to another member's name, the member's real estate license number and/or office address may also be included to distinguish the individual.
  2. The Article(s) of the Code of Ethics that were violated.
  3. The discipline imposed.

The name of the member's real estate firm will not be published.

This information will be published through the Nebraska REALTORS® Association's official member communication channels. Local associations may republish the information in member-only communications consistent with NAR policy.

Avoid Publication – Know the Rules

Members are encouraged to stay current on their ethical obligations under the REALTOR® Code of Ethics. NAR offers a free Code of Ethics course available HERE.

Nebraska REALTORS ® Association Violation Publication Policy

Approved by the Board of Directors on June 30, 2026

Effective August 2026, all ethics violators with two violations within a three-year period are published in the State Association’s main communication method, stating their name, article violated, and sanction.

Publishing the names of Code of Ethics violators

  • Publication can only occur after a second violation occurs within three (3) years.

  • Ethics citation discipline may be included in the violation count if the association has affirmatively authorized publication within their citation policy.

  • Publication can only be made in an official communication vehicle intended primarily for members of the Association(s) in which the violator holds (held) membership. Where the official communication vehicle is electronic or Internet-based, access must be limited to Association members.

  • The name of the firm the violator is (or was) licensed with cannot be published.

  • Publication must be consistent and uniform. This means that publication may not occur selectively but must be used in each instance where a second violation is determined within three (3) years.

  • Other than the violator’s name, the only additional information that may be published is the Article(s) violated, and the discipline imposed, except that in cases where the violator’s name is similar to another member’s name, the violator’s license number or office address (or both) may also be published.

  • At least one of the violations must be based on conduct which occurs after the adoption of the Association’s publication procedures. (Adopted June 30, 2026)
