NRA CALL FOR ACTION

LB1067, introduced by Senator Hallstrom, proposes a $1.50 increase to Nebraska’s real estate transfer tax. Under the bill, $0.75 would be allocated to the Rural Workforce Housing Fund and $0.75 to the Middle Income Workforce Housing Fund.

The Nebraska REALTORS® Association opposes taxes on real estate transfers because they inhibit the buying and selling of real estate and make housing less affordable.

Send the pre-written message below to the Revenue Committee, urging them to oppose LB1067 today.

Dear Chair von Gillern and Members of the Revenue Committee,
I am contacting you to urge you to oppose LB1067, which would increase Nebraska’s real estate transfer tax by $1.50 per $1,000 of value. This proposal would directly increase closing costs for Nebraska homeowners and homebuyers at a time when affordability is already stretched thin.
The Nebraska REALTORS® Association opposes any increase to the transfer tax because it discourages buying and selling real estate and makes homeownership less attainable. Nebraska is facing a housing supply crisis, and adding new taxes and fees at the closing table only worsens the problem. According to the National Association of Home Builders, for every $1,000 increase in the price of a home, 1,214 households are priced out of the market. Every added tax pushes more Nebraskans out of reach of the American Dream.
Please oppose LB1067.
