NRC Scholarship Application Deadline Is This Friday!

Please let this serve as a friendly reminder that the 2019 NRC Scholarship Program application window is still open, but closing very soon! The NRC offers tuition assistance to children or grandchildren of NRC member company employees. Information on how to apply here!

The NRC is pleased to announce that we have increased the number of awards given out this year! We have increased the number of scholarship awards this year by offering additional second and third place awards. As one of our most valued benefits, we are thrilled to be able to provide tuition assistance to the children or grandchild of our members.

NRC Files Joint Petition to Amend 49 C.F.R. Part 243

The NRC filed a joint petition with the ASLRRA to amend 49 C.F.R Part 243 by delaying certain implementation dates for applicable short lines and contractors for an additional two years or suspending such dates all together. This petition is in an effort to reduce substantial and unnecessary regulatory burdens for our members, and give our members greater regulatory flexibility in how they implement training requirements. Industry News

Earlier this month, the USDOT issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity for Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Program. The NOFO makes $244 million available for capital rail projects .

South Dakota DOT released an Invitation For Proposals (IFP) to purchase their rail lines and is accepting proposals until November 21, 2019.  Questions about the South Dakota electronic bidding system may be directed to Becky Hoffman, the Department’s Bid Letting Engineer, at (605) 773-8386 or [email protected]

The Chicago Transit Authority has partnered with Walsh-Fluor Design-Build Team to host career fairs in the Chicago area aimed at helping develop a diverse workforce for the CTA’s largest capital improvement project, the Red and Purple Modernization.

Last month, The Port of Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners approved two key contacts to HDR Engineering for engineering design services and Hill International for program management services for a pivotal on-dock rail support yard.

On August 6th, 2019, Metrolink appointed Eric Hosey as chief operating officer, Darrell Maxey as chief mobilization officer, and Noelia Rodriguez as chief of staff.  

26-year veteran of the rail industry, Barbara Wilson has been named president and chief financial officer of RailUSA, LLC.

Railway Interchange, the largest railway exhibition and technical conference in North America, is scheduled for September 22 - 25, 2019 at the Minneapolis Convention Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
