NRG-BR003 is approaching the definitive analysis. In order to assure timely data collection and successful carryout of this study, we would like to request the sites to submit all overdue data and the supporting documentation regarding recurrence and survival status and respond to open queries within four weeks. 2. Gilead’s Solid Tumor Research Scholar Programs

Gilead has opened new cycles of Gilead’s Solid Tumor Research Scholar Programs for applications from junior investigators. The US program is accepting applications from early career scientists who are submitting research proposals addressing unmet medical needs in basic and clinical research on Breast, Bladder and Lung cancer. See the guidance on project eligibility.

As a reminder, applications to the programs are made via the specific Scholars website portal only. Successful applicants receive $180,000 USD from Gilead paid directly to their institutions for the 2 year award period. The application deadline is January 19, 2024. An awardee event is planned at ASCO 2024.

3. Acting Chief of Community Oncology and Prevention Trials Research Group Named

Brandy Heckman-Stoddard, Ph.D., M.P.H., Chief of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP) Breast and Gynecologic Cancer Research Group (BGCRG) has been named Acting Chief of the DCP Community Oncology and Prevention Trials Research Group (COPTRG) and Acting Director of the NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) following the retirement of Worta McCaskill-Stevens, M.D., M.S. 4. PCOR Committee Educational Session at #NRG2024 Orlando

At the NRG Oncology Winter Meeting in February 2024, the Patient Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) Committee will be offering an educational session for NRG investigators interested in learning about the basics of how to design patient reported outcomes (PROs) components for future NRG trials.

This educational session is designed to broaden the PRO knowledge among NRG investigators. Some of the topics that will be covered in this session will include the following: how to select appropriate PRO measures for each trial; how to design hypothesis-testing PRO components for a trial; the NCI review and approval process for PRO components; basic statistical considerations, etc.

This PRO educational session is open to anyone at NRG who is interested. This is a “mini-training” session, as there is a lot more to learn over time regarding PROs. This PRO educational session will be part of the PCOR Committee meeting, which usually is scheduled on Thursday afternoon during the NRG Oncology Meeting.

5. NRG-CC011 Study Overview webinar – Register today!

NRG Oncology is hosting a webinar for a developing trial, NRG-CC011: Cognitive Training for Cancer Related Cognitive Impairment in Breast Cancer Survivors: A Multi-Center Randomized Double-Blinded Controlled Trial. This session will be held on December 5, 2023 from 12 – 1 PM ET and led by the study chairs, Dr. Diane Von Ah, Dr. Patricia Ganz and Dr. Brenna McDonald. This trial is designed to examine whether computerized training will improve cancer-related cognitive impairment, including the ability to concentrate, learn new things, remember, and make decisions that affect daily life in breast cancer survivors. Activation is anticipated late 2023/early 2024.

6. Veterans Day Closure Information

Please note the following NRG Oncology locations will be closed on Friday, November 10, 2023, in observance of Veterans Day: Philadelphia East Operations Center and the Biospecimen Bank in San Francisco. All other locations will be open during regular business hours on that day. More information about these closures is posted on the CTSU website.
