NRMN Grant Writing Coaching Group Alumna Earns K23 Grant

Jada Brooks, Ph.D. was recently awarded a K23 grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIEHS) following her participation as a mentee within a cohort of the NRMN Proposal Preparation Program (or "NRMN P3"), one of four NRMN coaching group models for rising biomedical research investigators to hone their techniques for grant proposal writing. We explore her experience in biomedical research and the path that led her to where she is today.

In an interview with NRMN, Lucy R. Forrest, Ph.D. discusses the valuable experience she has had working with a mentee through NRMN's one-to-one virtual mentorship program.

"Most mentoring programs rely on proximity and overlapping communities, which limits the amount of directly relevant expertise and experiences the mentor might have had. By contrast, NRMN provides a bridge across space and scientific fields, by allowing mentees to search for the mentor whose experience seems most appropriate for their own particular challenges."

Grant Writing Coaching Group Wrap-Up Event at Boston College

On May 3-4, NRMN hosted the closing segment of the Northwestern University Grant Writing coaching group program at Boston College. 

The session featured a "mock study section" designed to give mentees in the group insights into the kinds of conversations that take place during the grant review and scoring process.
