NRMN-P3 - Impacting the Future of Research One Cohort at a Time

The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus hosted another 5-month NRMN Preparation Program (P3). This cohort of P3 scholars has diverse research interests, including epigenetic regulation of neurodegenerative disorders, the impact of racism-related stressors on cardiovascular health, and the effects of environmental toxins on gamete function, just to name a few. Their research may differ, but all share the common goal of acquiring NIH funding to advance their area of science.

NRMN PI Dr. Christine Pfund presented "Maximizing Your Mentoring Relationships" to the UAB Health Disparities Research Training Program (HDRTP) group at the annual IRACDA Conference and connected via video conference to Morehouse School of Medicine, Tuskegee University, Alabama State University, University of Alabama, University of South Alabama, Creighton University and others.

#MyBUILDSummer- A Reflection of Summer Research Programs

NRMN partnered with the DPC and BUILD sites to gather a visual representation of what student's summer research experience looked like by crowdsourcing photos utilizing the #MyBUILDSummer. In doing so, a beautiful representation of what the summer program experience entailed across the nation. A plethora of participants from several BUILD sites as well as the DPC participated in this event on August 8, 2017. This social media campaign was designed to raise awareness of BUILD Summer programs and the true impact that researchers make not only in their institution, but in their community as well.

RCMI 2017 presents opportunities to share new and innovative approaches toward eliminating health disparities, developing the next generation of biomedical scientists. We invite all basic, clinical and population science researchers and policy advocates to participate in the conference, submit abstracts around conference related themes and
share information
about this conference with your colleagues.

NOBCChE Conference Grants for Students
The deadline has been extended to August 31.
The student develop committee is committed to helping students attend the NOBCChE National Conference. The Advancing Science Conference Grant (ACSG) offers registration and lodging support to undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral scholars attending the NOBCChE Annual Conference.
As part of the ASCG, recipients participate in various developmental sessions, as well as volunteer at the conference. Preference is given to those that present a poster or talk at the conference.
