Improperly Recycled Lawnmowers Cause Fires
NRRA has become aware of two recent fires related to the improper recycling of lawnmowers by residents.  Lawnmowers can be safely recycled with scrap metal, but only if they are fully emptied of gas beforehand.

In one case, a resident recycled a lawnmower that still had gas in it. When the transfer station operator went to push down the metal with the loader to make more space in the storage container, a spark ignited the fuel and caused the fire.

Farewell to Fellow Recycler, Norm Bowles
Norm Bowles, the former operator of the Canterbury NH Recycling Center, passed away on October 17, 2020 at 90 years of age surrounded by family and friends. He often referred to himself as a “young boy” and the “bad boy of Canterbury”.

Norm dedicated his life to his family, farming, hard work and recycling. One of the highlights of his time at the recycling facility was the “Dance at da Dump," which involved a hot tub and celebrations of recycling!

Bills of Lading (BOLs)

BOL’s are a critical part of our work here at the Finance Department. It is vital for our Members to send NRRA a completed Bill of Lading for each shipment of material sent through NRRA.

We've added a page to our website to make BOLs easily accessible to you (online, writable version or print off) as well as answer a few common questions:
  • What is a Bill of Lading and why is it so important?
  • How do I fill one out?
  • Where do I get a BOL form?
  • Where do I sent a copy of my BOL?

As you may know, New Hampshire the Beautiful grants all NH towns with annual points to use towards ordering signs for transfer stations/recycling centers. One town mistakenly ordered two signs that turned out to not be needed at their site.

These signs are free to the first person who responds and will not use any of your NHtB sign points. If your town is in need of these two signs and would like to lay claim to them, please contact info@nrrarecycles.org.

The two signs available include:
24" x 18" Plastics #1 THRU #7
