Summer Quarterly Newsletter
Greetings ACTE Colleagues,
I’m honored to serve as the incoming Vice President for the New and Related Services (NRS) Division. Our division is the home for innovative, cross-disciplinary and emerging career and technical education (CTE) pathways — including many of the fastest-growing career fields in education.
As we enter a new academic year, I want to reaffirm our commitment to serving you, our members. Whatever your connection to CTE, you are vital to the future of workforce development.
Some areas I look to connect with membership is to ensure everyone in the division is aware of the opportunities ACTE has for its members, and I will try to highlight a few with every newsletter. I would like to make more people aware of ACTE and increase membership.
NRS is a unique division where we get to foster a group which represents some kind of support for CTE and make them their own division. We just transitioned CTE for All from a section into a division through the diligent work of Krista Paul. Prior to that, work-based learning created their own division and they now host their own separate conference every year through the awesome work of Jan Jardine.
The bottom line with turning a section into a division is membership with 750 members being the consistent level we are looking for. By creating your own division your work area is able to have a seat in the ACTE board room where you can have a more direct voice in the happenings of CTE, along with a host of other benefits of being on your own.
Let’s continue to grow, connect, and ensure our students and teachers are supported every step of the way.
