Meet With Us

October Conference Recap: RMEL, NAEMA, and WSPP

The NRS Business Development Team had a productive and busy October. They participated in the Rocky Mountain Electrical League (RMEL) and the North American Energy Markets Association (NAEMA), and The Western Systems Power Pool (WSPP) Fall Conferences.  Along with major sponsorships, the team participated in numerous activities in the Denver area for RMEL, Atlanta for NAEMA, and Palm Springs for WSPP.

At RMEL the team had informative discussions with battery storage suppliers and EPC providers for upcoming projects.  While in Atlanta and Palm Springs, offtake leadership had several conversations with major utilities and industrial leadership for power offtake opportunities for our current portfolio of wind, solar, storage.

We look forward to growing and maturing these connections in the upcoming events at the Mountain West Clean Energy Procurement Summit in Salt Lake City in early November, and at the Colorado Solar & Storage Association (COSSA) the last week in February 2023.

Project Development

Project Advisory Board - the NRS Hallmark to its Community Model

Our Community Model places a unique focus on establishing long-lasting relationships across the spectrum of the people who are involved within every project we develop. Because of this, we start our engagement in the community very early on. A key element in our model is establishing an Advisory Board for the large projects, early on in the site control process – often several months before a project goes into construction.

This Advisory Board is made up primarily of local landowners and community members. The goal of this group is two-fold:

  1. To ensure the local issues and concerns are considered throughout the development and operations of the project.
  2. To act as a liaison on behalf of the project landowners and the broader community, which may include recommendations as to how the project can support the local community through financial or educational means.

This simple but deliberate component to our Community Model has given us an edge on ensuring landowner and community relations remain strong, helps us identify major issues earlier and allows us to solve problems more quickly – or put differently, it just makes for a better project.

This month, we hosted an initial informational meeting for prospective Advisory Board members for our Overland Pass East project. Look for more updates on this (and other project Advisory Boards) in the coming months!
