A Plan to Grow Leadership and Support in STEM Research and Education

The Mentoring Institute represents a unique opportunity for NSHE administrators, faculty and students involved in research to identify/develop opportunities and partnerships to build upon existing programs occurring at each NSHE institution.These opportunities serve not only to enhance undergraduate research programs, but also to promote NSHE’s vital role in supporting Nevada’s industry sectors, including those identified by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.

ASCEND Biomedical Commercialization Short Course
Bridging the Gap: Commercialization for Biomedical Researchers
This four week course provides an introduction to commercialization and tech transfer for biomedical researchers. Our past attendees have included staff, graduate students, post docs, and faculty working in NIH research. This program uses a mixture of synchronous and asynchronous instruction with a weekly meeting time on Wednesdays from 3-4PM MDT starting October 7 and ending on October 28.

  • October 7: 3– 4pm: The Commercialization Path
  • October 14: 3 – 4pm: Intellectual Property and Protection
  • October 21: 3 – 4pm: Commercialization Skills and Capital-Raising Skills
  • October 28: 4 – 4pm: Pitch Deck Best Practices
