Research

Minnesota Sea Grant contacted the NSGLC for information on what enforcement mechanisms are available for subsurface sewage treatment systems (SSTS) in Minnesota. The NSGLC provided a brief description of the SSTS program in the state. Although there are state laws and regulations governing SSTSs in Minnesota, the state delegates inspection and enforcement to county governments.

The NSGLC congratulates Georgia Sea Grant for being selected to receive funding through the 2022 Ocean, Coastal, and Great Lakes Law Research Fellowship Program. Georgia Sea Grant will serve as a host office for a postgraduate Law Research Fellow.

Later this year, the NSGLC will be releasing a call for proposals for research projects examining the effectiveness of coastal adaptation and resilience laws and policies. The competition will be open to Sea Grant Programs, colleges, universities, and nonprofit, non-academic institutions directly associated with research activities (e.g. public policy organizations).
