NSMA 2022 AWARD WINNERS
Some of our outstanding members were awarded with the Distinguished Physician Award, the Community Service Award, the Robert W. Shreck, MD Award, the Nicholas J. Horn Award and the NSMA Presidents' Award. The 2022 Award Winners are nominated and voted on by fellow members of the Nevada State Medical Association.
Nicholas J. Horn Award
2022 Award Recipient: Joan Hall (Nevada Rural Hospital Partners, Carson City, NV)
The Nevada State Medical Association recognizes a Nevadan who is not a physician for public service and contributions to the health of Nevadans.
Nicholas J. Horn died in 1992. He served medicine, and the people of Nevada as an educator, a State Senator (1983 to 1992), and as Executive Director of the Clark County Medical Society (1986 to 1992). By an action of the House of Delegates, he became the only layperson-member of the Nevada State Medical Association.
Recipients of the “NSMA Nicholas J. Horn Award” demonstrate the high standards signified by the award’s name.
Robert W. Shreck, MD Award
2022 Award Recipient: Jay K. Morgan, MD (Reno, NV)
The Robert W. Shreck, MD Award is presented by the Nevada State Medical Association to recognize the guidance, leadership, hard work, and years of service that helped shape the Nevada State Medical Association into the foremost advocate for high quality patient care in the state of Nevada.
Distinguished Physician Award
2022 Award Recipient: Howard Baron, MD (Las Vegas, NV)
The Distinguished Physician Award recognizes physicians who have made outstanding achievements in the medical field.
Community Service Award
2022 Award Recipient: Bayo Curry-Winchell, MD (Reno, NV)
2022 Award Recipient: Fermin Leguen, MD, MPH (Las Vegas, NV)
The Community Service Award recognizes physicians for rendering outstanding community services that go above and beyond the call of professional duty.
President's Award
2022 Award Recipient: 2022 Award Recipient: Pastor DeSean Horne and Markus Dorsey-Hirt (Second Baptist Church, Reno, NV)
The President’s award is given annually to people who deserve recognition for their contributions to health care in our community.
