The National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA)
Statement on
COVID-19 and NSNA’s Annual Convention
The National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) is looking forward to the 68th Annual Convention which takes place April 15-19, 2020, in Orlando, FL. As the nation’s largest pre-professional nursing organization, the NSNA’s 68 th Annual Convention is expected to attract nursing students, educators, representatives of academic institutions, government agencies, healthcare systems, and professional associations.

The health and safety of convention attendees are of utmost importance to NSNA. We’ve been monitoring the latest developments related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and will continue to monitor updates. Based on the latest information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NSNA’s 68 th Annual Convention is scheduled to be held as planned.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is not advising any travel restrictions within the U.S. at present, and the CDC states that the risk of COVID-19 infection within the United States is low.

We are pleased that Disney has implemented additional actions to support the health and safety of attendees and exhibitors (at Disney hotels and entertainment venues) such as:

·        Defined cycles for frequent cleaning and disinfection of targeted areas
·        Easy access to handwashing facilities and hand sanitizers
·        Quick response to spills, trash, and other situations
·        End of day sanitation procedures for restroom, kitchen, and other facilities
·        Frequent cleaning and “wash down” of outdoor locations, including walkways and queues
·        Training for cast members, with ongoing reinforcement on a regular basis

In addition, onsite we will urge attendees and exhibitors to follow proper respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene; promote a “hug-free and handshake-free” conference; urge anyone experiencing symptoms of any suspected illness to isolate and to seek medical attention; other measures in accordance with the latest CDC guidance.
