NSU Researchers Receive $4-Million CDC Grant to Study COVID 'Long-Haulers'
Continued muscle aches. Exhaustion. An inability to return to normal activities. For some who have "recovered" from COVID-19, symptoms linger long after the virus is gone. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has tapped Nancy Klimas, M.D., director of the Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine and chair of the Department of Clinical Immunology, and her team to study the residual effects of the virus on COVID 'long-haulers.' The Jerry Taylor & Nancy Bryant Foundation Gift Supports NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale
A generous gift from The Jerry Taylor & Nancy Bryant Foundation will be used to endow an art curator position and provide funds for the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale’s youth education programs. The impact of this gift will be magnified by Nova Southeastern University’s newly established endowment challenge that matches interest on all new endowments up to 5 percent through 2025. Spirit Airlines Supports NSU Breast Cancer Research
In October, the Spirit Airlines Foundation donated $5,000 to NSU's AutoNation Institute for Breast Cancer Research and Care. The Institute will use the gift to purchase Park Genome Analysis software utilized in critical breast cancer research. The software helps researchers analyze mutations in breast cancer cell lines where it is resistive to treatments, especially among the African American population.
NSU Director of Military Affairs on a Mission to Help Fellow Service Members
U.S. Coast Guard veteran Nicholas Pascucci recently established a Changing Lives Scholarship to support Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) students at NSU. He also launched the NSU Army ROTC's Greatest Needs campaign to encourage others to support future U.S. Army Officers currently attending NSU. Read more ...

Jim Hutchens is the vice president for information services and university librarian at NSU. Growing up, he never imagined becoming a librarian, but when an opportunity for a distance education librarian became available shortly after he moved to South Florida, a new career path was forged.

NSU’s goal is to raise $100,000 and reach at least 1,000 donors in 24 hours. While funds can support any college, program, or area at NSU, this year's focus is on the COVID-19 Student Support Fund, mental health awareness, and suicide and violence prevention.
