We are delighted to announce the 25th annual NSW Wine Awards is now open for entries. We strongly encourage all NSW wineries to enter these Awards as it is arguably one of the more successful wine shows at helping increase public and trade brand awareness and open doors to genuine commercial opportunities.
We are also extremely proud that our partnership with the International Convention Centre Sydney continues, and they will again be providing us with a stunning and safe world-class venue for the judging, trade tastings and Awards presentations.
After the success of the inaugural ‘1828 Innovators Trophy’ last year, the 2020 Awards will again be looking for something a little different! 1828 was the first year of commercial wine production in Australia, and in recognition of those innovators and pioneers of the NSW wine industry, this class was created to support the continuing progression of ground-breaking wines in NSW. This class highlights winemakers who push the boundaries of winemaking to produce wine styles that are at the leading edge of wine production in NSW. Entries for the 1828 Innovators Wine Award can be a red or white wine and must include a brief description of the fruit source, wine making technique and the underlying philosophy behind the innovative wine.
Another relatively new class which always creates a lot of interest is the ‘Chair of Judges Award’. This award is given to a wine from a particular wine region that really impresses our Chair of Judges, Dave Brookes. Each year a different region is selected to reflect what is topical in the industry. This year, the wine region of Tumbarumba has been selected. As we all know, Tumbarumba was unfortunately hit hard by the recent bush fires. We hope that by highlighting the region and it producers we can assist in their rebuilding process and road to recovery. We really look forward to seeing lots of spectacular cool climate wines from Tumbarumba in the judging process this year.
