Placer County Seeks Input on Wildfire Mitigation Strategies


Placer County residents are invited to participate in upcoming community forums focusing on mitigating wildfire risk to communities, improving water quality and protecting recreational opportunities and other critical assets. Hosted by the Placer County Regional Forest Health Division, these forums allow residents to share priorities regarding the protection of property, water systems, transit routes, recreation areas and more from the risk of severe wildfire.

Leadership Program Participants Seek Community Feedback on Action Plans

Each year, as part of the North Lake Tahoe-Truckee Leadership Program, participants form small groups to produce Action Plans. These Action Plans provide the framework for real-world changes in the community. Plans emphasize collaboration with local community groups and promote positive, short-term impacts. With their topics finalized, class participants now need your input to further their Action Plans. Learn more about each project and take a survey on a topic of interest to you!

Tahoe Fund Seeks Artists for Restroom Murals


The Tahoe Fund and USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) seek community-based artists to “beautify” the blank interiors of the restrooms near local trails. Officials hope murals of Tahoe’s plants, animals, and landscapes will inspire people to take care of Tahoe. Apply by March 29.

Community Partner Spotlight


Based in the Truckee-North Lake Tahoe area, Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue (TNSAR) is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization made up of EMTs, emergency room doctors and nurses, firefighters, ski patrollers, paramedics, and experienced backcountry skiers and snowmobilers who donate their time to help others. The organization works closely with local sheriff’s departments and other agencies to conduct emergency search and rescue operations for those lost or hurt in the wilderness of the rugged Sierra Nevada range and is fully funded by donations and its annual fundraising event, The Great Ski Race (canceled for 2024).
