Trustees attend CSBA Conference Heredia elected CSBA vice president
Congratulations to Natomas Unified School District School Board Trustee Dr. Susan Heredia for being elected Vice President of the California School Board Association (CSBA), an organization representing more than 1,000 school districts and county offices of education throughout the state. "I am honored to represent CSBA and to have the opportunity to showcase the great things we are doing in Natomas Unified to support student achievement," said Heredia. "As the new vice president, I look forward to bringing home to Natomas what I will learn from my interactions throughout the state and with other districts."

Heredia was officially installed as vice president at the 2019 CSBA Annual Education Conference earlier this month where all members of the NUSD Board of Trustees were in attendance. While there, Trustees participated in a variety of professional development to support their local work as Trustees in Natomas. They attended workshops and sessions that ranged from advocacy, engagement, and community relations to teaching and learning and governance and leadership. Another area of focus at the CSBA conference was equity, opportunity, and access which supports the Board's Core Belief that 'disparity and disproportionality can and must be eliminated'. "With the support of CSBA and its Equity Network, we're able to learn, develop, and implement equity policies that align with our goals."

Dr. Heredia has served on the NUSD Board since 2000. She has been an active member of CSBA and a longtime advocate for California public school students. She has served as CSBA's Director-At-Large, Hispanic, as well as Chair of the organization's 2019 Annual Conference Committee among many other committees. She will serve as vice president on the executive committee during 2020.
