Beyond Words Covenent Group, led by Pam Spence, hosts events at the church and beyond that offer opportunities for exploring spirituality “beyond words.” All of these events are welcoming, inclusive, free of charge and open to church members as well as to the larger community.

In this month - believe it or not - we welcome the first day of Spring! In keeping with our celebrations this year of the cross quarters - the equinoxes and solstices - we will observe the vernal equinox on Saturday morning, at 10:00 at the church. Weather permitting, we will be outside for at least part of it.

We will also host Dances of Universal Peace that weekend, Sunday morning, March 22nd., noon until 1:30, led by Laura Bergman and Beth Phipps. The Dances are “body prayers” wherin simple chants taken from sacred phrases from many religious traditions are accompanied by simple movement in the Circle. No experience necessary: all dances and chants are taught. Children are welcome and Laura will lead some dances appropriate for children in the first part of the dances.

Finishing out the month, on March 29th., at noon, Lisa Price will return with her soothing chrystal sound bowls and various other instruments for a lovely sound bath in the sanctuary - something we all can use after this winter! Free will donations for Lisa’s time and travel are appreciated. For more information contact Pam Spence pammy.spence@gmail.com, 740 816 1905.

Pam holds a MA in Transformational Theater and Sacred Drama from Antioch University, Yellow Springs and is a commisioned community minister through the Federation of Christian Ministries.

Ongoing Ways to Connect

Sewing Circle from 6 to 8 p.m. in Fellowship Hall on the 4th Wednesday of each month. Sewing Circle is a gathering of creators who crochet, knit, counted cross stitch, embroider, quilt, do mixed media etc., We bring the projects we are working on and have great conversation and snacks while we create. All are welcome. You don't have to sign up. Just show up. It's a great way to get to know others in our congregation.

Painting Circle If you like to draw or paint, consider attending NUUC’s Painting Circle. We will meet in Room 3 to create and socialize after the worship service (11:45am – 1:30pm) on the first Sunday of each month, starting on January 4, 2026. Bring whatever you are working on. If watercolor is a medium you like, we have the equipment --- brushes, paints, water containers--- so just bring watercolor paper. No need to sign up, no need to make a commitment; just show up.

Mindful Writing meets monthly, with members sharing a variety of written pieces and thoughts. All are welcome! Please contact Marty Keith if you're interested in joining the group so she can send you time and the Zoom link. martykeith@zoho.com

Life has a way of rushing by. Sometimes we feel the need to pause or to reflect more deeply. Join me for a virtual half hour of mindful contemplation that is inclusive, non-judgmental and expectation free. I’ll bring a mix of poetry, music, breathwork, silence, or meditation to create a space for you to relax. Participants are muted. Feel free to turn your video off. Please engage in whatever way feels most meaningful to you. A Space for Reflection is freely offered the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm on Zoom. Registration is required (link here).

As for me, Karen McGuire, the facilitator, I’m a lifelong Unitarian Universalist, a retired educator, and a trained Interspiritual Companion who finds it necessary to stop every once in a while, and pay attention.

New Feature: Members' Bulletin Board

Are you involved in something you'd like to share with the congregation? Now there's a way to include that in the newsletter. Just email Barb Lubberger for inclusion in the monthly email newsletter at: blubberg@gmail.com. Since the newsletter comes out at the beginning of each month, you will need to send your event to Barb in the month preceding your event. For example, for an event that will be held in October, you'd send the notice in September.
