Potholders and Their Special Charms

When was the last time you thought about loops and potholders. Kids love that sense of accomplishment. Weaving potholder from beginning to end and then using it works on fine motor skills AND... will give a positive boost to the weaver's self esteem! Kids will talk with each other about color selection, who is going to use the potholder, etc. So this activity gives the kids time to socialize with each other and work on communication too. Check out these videos to help with planning and material selection. Who knew that a simple potholder had so many hidden charms.

Old tee shirts can be upcycled and used to weaved potholders too. These videos explain how to cut tee shirts into long strips to use for knitting and crocheting but, the yarn can weave too.
